The day you have been waiting for has arrived… at long last.
You will need to conduct your final walk through today, if you haven’t already done so. Otherwise, head to the closing location a little early (try to be there 10-15 minutes early).
- Make certain you have a picture ID in your possession (driver’s license? passport?)
- And be sure to have your certified check with you.
The closing agent will furnish the Seller(s) and Buyer(s) with their respective settlement statements, which summarize the financial elements of the transaction. The parties will sign their statement, as well as the closing agent (certifying its accuracy). You will be required to sign all documentation pertinent to the transaction… if you obtained financing for the purchase, you will be required to sign a LARGE stack of documents. So, plan on spending an hour at the closing.
The seller should arrange to have all property keys and any other important information for you at the closing so that you may receive these items at this time.
(NOTE: If you are unable to attend the scheduled closing, it may be possible to make arrangements to conduct the closing in a non-traditional manner, depending upon how much notice is provided and your particular circumstances.)
Lastly, here are your keys… congratulations!
